Mir Khalil-ur-Rehman Foundation – MKRF is a Pakistan based non-profit organization dedicated to using media as a tool for social betterment and for empowering people to engage with their communities through learning, teaching and meaningful social action.

• The driving force behind MKR Foundation is the dynamic and generous personality of late Mir Khalil ur Rahman, founder of the Jang Group. His contribution, besides creating a colossal media empire in most hostile economic circumstances, was to encourage our nation to read and think.

• The MKR Foundation has inherited a rich legacy of quality journalism in Pakistan . Its strength lies in reaching a mass audience through dailies, weeklies, television, radio and online editions.

• Working in partnership with the Jang Group and Geo TV, the Foundation has access to over 10 million thinkers across the globe.

The Mir Khalil ur Rahman Foundation is a people-centric body that strives for the creation of space where excellence can thrive. It believes that knowledge and its effective practical usage can transform moribund societies. The Foundation has and will always serve as an umbrella for philanthropists, knowledge workers, conceptualizers and visionaries, providing them with a platform to pool in their ideas and energies for the benefit and betterment of the society as a whole.

Our continuing mission is to “Connect the Disconnected” by helping the communities realize that media is an effective and important tool for communication and education. The media can also be the fundamental mean of preventing social illnesses. We can use it to identify potential community problems, and to arrive at participatory solutions along with building the capacity of non-profit organizations to achieve mission-driven results. At MKR Foundation we are bridging the worlds of philanthropy, public policy and community action. We assume diverse, cross-cutting roles as non-partisan knowledge brokers, conveners, public interest advocates and policy analysts.
