 Microsoft is an industry leader in the
provision of technology solutions and services to commercial
enterprises, governments, academic entities and NGOs. On its own
and/or through its partners, Microsoft intends to play a
strategic role in the fulfillment of Pakistan's vision for
reduction of digital divide, enablement of a strong local IT
Industry, creation of employment and better economy through IT,
and better future and hope for Pakistan's youth by initiating a
long-term partnership with MKRF.
 With specific collaborations, joint investments
and initiatives, and by bringing Microsoft's social responsibility and
citizenship, it aims to focus on the betterment and uplift of the people and
economy of Pakistan . MKR Foundation & Microsoft entered into collaboration
by signing an agreement on December 22, 2004. The potential collaboration
areas are related to MKRF's vision, which is to maximize the impact of IT on
Pakistan's youth and underserved communities and to extend the value of
Microsoft's partnership, its presence, its technologies and its active role
and involvement through specific joint investments within Pakistan's in
order to help build a strong local IT Industry and Information Communication
Technology– ICT proliferation (hereinafter referred to as the “Potential
Collaboration”).
Scope of Partnership
The Parties have tentatively defined the
scope of their Potential Collaboration in a manner which
aims to develop cooperation in the following areas:
Microsoft is to collaborate with MKRF to jointly achieve the
objective of social reforms through ICT penetration, ICT
education, and widely spreading ICT access in Pakistan . The
collaboration will be based on a Standard Training &
Teaching Curriculum designed by Microsoft under the programs
of Unlimited Potential and Partners in Learning, and by
applying global best practices of Microsoft to bring about
the required change in a consistent and cohesive way.
To launch specific initiatives throughout Pakistan in joint
collaboration with MKRF for engaging the youth of Pakistan
with ICT and help them take their very first steps towards
Poverty Alleviation, Learning, Collaboration, Experience,
Development and Growth across the country through multi-tier
engagements and programs to be defined separately.
Microsoft is also to collaborate with MKRF to get in touch
with other NGOs and organizations that have focused on ICT
to expand their joint operations and collaborations across
Pakistan in a rapid systematic way.
